Education Centre Anna Maria van Schurman Building

Utrecht University is building a new education centre in Utrecht city centre; the Anna Maria van Schurman Building. With that, the educational function will return to the heart of the city as an essential element. The building will be an inviting place for education, working together and meeting. The project consists of merging the buildings Achter de Dom 20, 22-24 and Achter Sint Pieter 25 and 27. Specifically, this means a large-scale renovation of national monuments and the demolition/new construction of Achter Sint Pieter 25.

Objectives

Achter Sint Pieter 200 and the Trans house offices for the Humanities and LEG faculties. The Anna Maria van Schurman Building connects the office functions and strengthens the university's position in the city centre. The project provides a future-proof, integrally accessible and sustainable building.

Planning

The development of the Anna Maria van Schurmanbuilding is in the design phase. Construction work is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2025 to occupy the building for education in early 2027.
