Research hemophilia
"People with hemophilia must have access to good quality care in their neighbourhood. With my research I hope to achieve this"
Dr Merel Timmer, post-doc researcher and physiotherapist UMC Utrecht and lecturer in Physiotherapy Science at Utrecht University
Hemophilia causes bleeding in joints which can cause damage. Physiotherapy is necessary to function properly. But because the disease is rare, local physiotherapists have little experience with it. To change this, Dr Merel Timmer researches how physiotherapists in the neighbourhood and physiotherapists in expertise centers can work together smoothly and offer better care. The research is funded by the bequest of alumna Annie van Leerzem.
