The pursuit of innovative knowledge requires investment. Investment in buildings, laboratories, machines and tools, but above all in people: students, lecturers and researchers from all corners of the earth. Over the centuries, we have had the good fortune to be able to count on the support of alumni and others who feel a sense of involvement with our University.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE?

Financial contributions from private individuals, funds and businesses are becoming increasingly important. Friends, donors, grant providers and sponsors help to make Utrecht University into an exceptional and leading institute of education. A University where young, ambitious people from across the world come together to study and work to achieve a good future.

ONE-OFF DONATION

There are two possibilities for a one-off donation:

  1. Making a one-off transfer online;
  2. You can make a one-off donation by transferring the amount to our bank account number: NL43 INGB 0000 0144 75.

Under certain conditions, one-off donations are tax-deductible in the Netherlands:

  • For ordinarily donations, there is a lower threshold and a maximum. The lower threshold is 1% of your threshold income*, and the maximum is €60. Anything over this threshold amount is tax-deductible. However, you cannot deduct more than the maximum of 10% of your threshold income.
  • It is not permitted to receive anything in return for the donation.

*Your threshold income is the total of your income and deductible items in boxes 1, 2 and 3 of the Dutch income tax return, but excluding your personal allowance. If you have a fiscal partner during the whole year, you will also need to include your fiscal partner's threshold income.

If you live in another country, you should enquire about the tax advantages in your specific situation.
For US citizens we have the option to donate through the KBFUS. Donations through their online giving center are tax deductible for U.S. tax purposes. 

 

REGULAR DONATIONS

If you are considering offering the Utrecht University Fund regular or long-term support, it is financially advantageous to make a regular donation or charity gift annuity. A charity gift annuity (lijfrenteschenking) is a longer-term donation. If you make a donation for a period of at least five years, the total amount is tax-deductible. Depending on your income, you will be refunded up to 52% of the donated amount.

A charity gift annuity is a written agreement with the institution you are supporting. Since 1 January 2014, this no longer requires a deed from a civil-law notary. You can complete the regular donation form yourself, before signing it and returning it to us. The address is indicated on the form.

CROWDFUNDING

The crowdfunding website lists various projects that are being supported by the University Fund. Some of the projects are part of our "Funding the Future" campaign, but you will also find other Utrecht University projects there. There will always be a project that matches your interests.

As is the case for all our fundraising, 100% of your donation will go to the researcher or project of your choice.
