Woo requests

The Open Government Act (Woo) grants everyone the right to access public information held by the government. This law entered into force on 1 May 2022 and replaced the Government Information (Public Access) Act (Wob).

Anyone can submit a request to an administrative authority, including Utrecht University, to make public information available. The request must concern information that the university already possesses and that is recorded in documents. Your request will be handled in accordance with the Woo. This means that the exceptions provided for in the Woo may or must be applied. Information released in response to a Woo request is, in principle, public and accessible to everyone.

More information about the Woo can be found on the website of the central government or the legislation database.

Requesting documents

Would you like to request documents that are not yet public but may fall under the Woo? You can submit a Woo request.

Submit

A Woo request should be addressed to the Executive Board of Utrecht University and can be submitted using this digital form.

In both digital and written requests, always include:

  • Your name, contact details, date, and signature;
  • That it concerns a request under the Woo;
  • Which existing documents and clearly defined information for which period you wish to receive (no questions or explanations).
