Virologist Marion Koopmans has had broad horizons since she was a child. She grew up in a small village in Limburg, but was already sure she wanted to study veterinary medicine in Utrecht. Her horizons kept expanding after graduation.
What was it like to be a veterinarian fifty years ago and what are the differences with today? We went to visit Jelke Algra (76) and Lex Lobstein (73) in Balk, Friesland. These good-natured gentlemen are not only brothers-in-law, but also studied veterinary medicine together in Utrecht.
