The Utrecht University Botanic Gardens are located at Utrecht Science Park, in the heart of the University Campus approximately five kilometers from the center of Utrecht. The Gardens are easily accessible by public transport, car or bicycle.

By bicycle

Utrecht has been awarded the best cycling city in the world. The Gardens are about 5 km from the center of Utrecht and are easily accessible by bicycle from Utrecht Central Station, among other places. Of course, the Gardens can also be easily included in a longer bike ride in the beautiful surroundings of Utrecht. Do you want to plan a bike ride? This can be done, for example, via the bicycle route planner of the Dutch cyclists' union. Are you coming on an electric bicycle? Please keep in mind that it is unfortunately not yet possible to charge the bicycle with us.

Public transport

Are you traveling via Utrecht Central Station? Take tram 20, 21 or 22 to the Padualaan stop, or bus 28 to the Botanische Tuinen stop. Please note, the tram does not run on weekends. For traveling by public transport via other locations, see 9292.nl.

Directions and parking

There are several car parks in the vicinity of the Gardens, which are free on weekends and paid during the week.

  • Opposite the entrance to the Gardens is 'Parking Lot Budapestlaan' with its entrance on Princetonlaan.
  • Diagonally opposite the entrance to the Gardens is 'Parking Lot Padualaan' with its entrance on the Leuvenlaan.
  • Behind the Gardens is 'Parking Garage Olympos' with its entrance on Uppsalalaan.
  • You can also park your car at P+R Utrecht Science Park. You can purchase a combination ticket here for parking and traveling by public transport in the city. For example, you can first travel to the Botanic Gardens and continue to the center with the same ticket. You can also rent public transport (OV) bicycles at this P+R.
