What's the secret of Pharmacy student Maryam Lyousoufi's success? Working hard, maintaining her network and remaining thoroughly dedicated to what she does. Maryam was on the board of the Avicenna Honours programme and taught Pharmacy lessons to school students at the IMC Weekend School, an initiative to give children from deprived neighbourhoods an opportunity to get to know professionals. She and some fellow students have also published a book about their field of expertise and a second is in the pipeline. The icing on the cake was the ECHO award that she won in 2016.

Travelling and Pharmacy

“There's still so much I dream of doing. I really love travelling and have just completed a six-month trip with my partner. I also hope to spend some time working abroad. In a hospital, pharmacy or in the pharmaceutical industry. Combining travel with pharmacy would be simply ideal for me.”

Proud about: My perseverance Ambition: To become a hospital pharmacist. It's not easy, but where there's a will, there's a way. Source of inspiration: My family, who are always behind me. Guilty pleasure: an ice-cold red bull.
