From University Teaching Qualification to Senior Teaching Qualification

In this half day meeting, we will explore the meaning of “seniority in education” by looking at role models and the STQ-criteria. We will examine which activities and experiences are typically part of an STQ-portfolio. After the introductory meeting you will discuss your next step(s) with the course leaders.

Every meeting starts with (peer)feedback on each other’s texts for the STQ-portfolio. Based on the written text and the STQ criteria, we will discuss inspiring topics which will help you expand the content of your portfolio. At the end of the course, you will have a complete STQ portfolio that you can use for your STQ application.

Target group
The STQ-portfolio course is aimed at those lecturers with enough experience at the STQ-level and who would like support in compiling their portfolio. To finish the portfolio, participants in previous editions strongly recommend participation in the writing retreat (see below).

Expected time-commitment
The track consists of four meetings of 1.5 hours with a maximum of 6 participants. Please take into account that you will also need some time reading articles in preparation of the meetings, writing for your portfolio and giving feedback on texts of other participants.

Dates

• Wednesday 8 and 22 November and 6 and 20 December 2023 with 10 January 2024 as reserve day. Time: 11:00 - 12:45 hours.
• Monday 26 February, 11 March, 25 March and 8 April. Time: 13:15 - 15:15 hours.

For many senior teaching finishing their STQ-portfolio is difficult due to lack of time or uncertainties about the criteria for the STQ application. Participating in the writing-retreat is an incentive and a support for finishing the STQ-portfolio.
Two days in peace to concentrate on writing your portfolio: that is what the writing retreat is about. The course leaders will be available to read your texts and provide you with feedback and support you, for example with finding suitable literature.

Target group
The writing retreat is aimed at those lecturers who fulfil the STQ-criteria and want to write/complete their STQ portfolio.

Expected time-commitment
The writing retreat consists of five half-day sessions, spread over two days, including an overnight stay.
