Workshop on The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU at the Montaigne Centre
Together with the University of Coimbra (Portugal), the University of Szczecin (Poland) and the Human Rights Institute of Catalonia (Spain), the Montaigne Center is partner in the DG-Justice research project 'The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union in Action'.
Lawyers, judges and prosecutors
The aim of this project is to increase knowledge and awareness among legal actors on the EU Fundamental Rights Charter within the EU. In order to achieve this goal, workshops for judges, lawyers and public prosecutors have been organized over the course of recent months in the each of the partnering countries.
On Monday, January 29, 2018, an Exchange Experience Workshop took place in Utrecht. During this workshop participants from the seminars from all partner countries came together to exchange experiences about the application of the Charter. José Manuel Pureza (University of Coimbra), Bas van Bockel (Utrecht University) and Manon Julicher (Utrecht University) have given keynotes on some interesting aspects of the Charter. The participants also presented their summaries to each other on the specific application of the Charter in their country. It was a very successful day, which provided many innovative insights that will help to increase knowledge and awareness about the Charter in time to come!
