On 5 and 6 July 2018 the research team of the NWO project ALLRISK made a fieldtrip to a large number of projects within the framework of the Dutch Flood Protection
ALLRISK examines the consequences of the new risk approach for flood risk management. It was an intensive, but also inspiring journey along a large number of projects within the flood protection programme known as Hoogwaterbeschermingsprogramma. The researchers were given insight into the problems of dike reinforcements along the Hollandse IJssel (Streefkerk/Molenwaard), the rivier Waal (Varik-Heesselt) en the river Nederrijn (Grebbedijk), the modernization of water management works (storm surge barrier Hollandsche IJssel), the relationship between flood protection and land subsidence (Moordrecht), and the waterfront in Tiel.
Our thanks goes out to Hoogheemraadschap van Schieland en de Krimpenerwaard, Waterschap Rivierenland, Waterschap Vallei en Veluwe and Rijkswaterstaat for sharing experiences and knowledge with us!
