What would an AI-enriched learning space look like?

During a brainstorm on 13 April, students, teachers, educational experts and colleagues from Campus & Facilities explored how AI and the learning environment could reinforce one another.  

Leaving aside practical or ethical concerns for a moment, this led to four concepts that each explored a different intersection:  

1. The AI Studio: a place where students and teachers work supervised by experts with AI tools that are not easily accessible, for example to create multimedia products or simulations.
2. Better writing: a space where students learn from writing mentors, with or without the use of various AI tools.  
3. Data-driven teaching: In this learning space, student behaviour is monitored and analysed, after which AI provides suggestions to the lecturer on how to keep the student group engaged.  
4. AI as a collaboration assistant and coach: project spaces in which an AI assistant takes minutes, monitors progress, quantifies team members’ contributions and encourages them to reflect upon them.  

These concepts serve as a thought-provoking starting point for further discussion on the role of AI in education on the UU campus.
