Before scientific journals and newspapers existed, the learned men and women of Europe shared their knowledge through letters. Researchers at Utrecht University are looking for volunteers to help with gathering information from these letters from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Scientists, humanists and other authors formed a lively community, using the social media of their time. The researchers of the Utrecht project SKILLNET would like to know who wrote to each other, from where, to where and when. This information is called the metadata of a letter. The researchers are in need of volunteers to add the metadata.
On 14 December SKILLNET launches a crowdsourcing platform for collecting the metadata of these letters from the Republic of Letters. You are very welcome to attend the launch.
