VMR 35th Anniversary Conference on Legal Challenges in the Transition to Sustainability
On June 14th 2017 the Dutch Association for Environmental Law (‘Vereniging voor Milieurecht’) celebrated its 35th birthday with a conference themed ‘Transition to Sustainability – a Legal Challenge’.
The general meeting commenced with a brief reflection on the events of past year, after which there was a change of board members. Thereafter, experts from different branches, including government, business, judiciary and the academia, presented their views on the challenges and possibilities in the domain of law and policy with regard to themes such as circular economy, sustainable development goals, adaptation to climate change and the energy transition.
Among the speakers were Prof Marleen van Rijswick and Prof Chris Backes of Utrecht University / Utrecht Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law (UCWOSL).
