Utrechts contributions to the book ‘Neue Sachlichkeit and Avant-Garde’

Neue Sachlichkeit

The recently published volume Neue Sachlichkeit and Avant-Garde contains a contribution by Hans Anten (former staff member of the Department of Dutch, Modern Literature): ‘“A book such as Automobile is only written once in a lifetime”. Ilja Ehrenburg’s The life of the automobile as benchmark in the discussion of New Objectivity in Dutch literature’. The series in which the volume has been published, Avant-Garde Critical Studies, has a new editor: Geert Buelens, Professor of Modern Dutch Literature.

The 15 contributions in the abundantly illustrated Neue Sachlichkeit and Avant-Garde shed more light on the notion Neue Sachlichkeit in its appearance in a variety of fields as painting, architecture, music, photography and literature, in order to get a clearer idea of its scope.
