Update - Icy conditions – University Library in Science Park and City Centre open till midnight

The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) has issued a code orange warning (in Dutch) for the province of Utrecht, among others, due to slippery conditions caused by winter weather and additional snowfall during the morning rush hour.

Are you on campus but unable to return home due to the poor road and public transport conditions, and is your building closing? The University Library (USP and City Centre) will remain open until midnight tonight.

The university has decided that all classes planned for January 5 will be canceled. Colleagues who are scheduled to teach will be informed seperately. Staff are advised to work from home as much as possible on Monday 5 January, in consultation with their manager. The buildings of Utrecht University will remain open (during regular opening hours). 

The KNMI is also expecting winter weather and slippery conditions for the rest of the week. Utrecht University is monitoring the advice and will provide updates regarding the rest of the week as soon as possible. The buildings of Utrecht University will remain open (during regular opening hours).

The KNMI issues a “code orange” weather warning when there is a high probability of dangerous or extreme weather with a significant impact and a risk of damage, injury or major disruption.
