Training on the Law of the Sea in New Delhi

From 9 to 11 December 2025, Alex Oude Elferink, together Sebastiaan Olislagers from The Clingendael Institute provided a training for 52 young Indian diplomats at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service of India’s Ministry of External Affairs. The training covered recent developments in the law of the sea, including dispute settlement, the BBNJ Agreement, deep-sea mining and the protection of the marine environment. This training formed part of the Netherlands’ ongoing commitment to the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative.
