Towards Realisation of the SDGs on the National Level: challenges posed by International Investment Law

Yulia Levashova, LLM and prof. Tineke Lambooy, researchers associated with the Utrecht Centre for Water Oceans and Sustainability Law at Utrecht University, in cooperation with the Dutch coordinator for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Utrecht University, organise the break-out session ‘Towards Realisation of the SDGs on the National Level: Challenges posed by International Investment Law’ at the World Investment Forum 2018 in Geneva. 

The session will take place on 25 October at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. The overall theme of the World Investment Forum this year is ‘Investing in Sustainable Development.’ The panel session contributes to the theme by exploring the challenges and opportunities of policy coherence between investment policies and the implementation of the SDGs. The experts in the field of investment and the SDGs will be discussing the question of policy coherence between complying with international investment law and implementing the SDGs.
