Those who can, teach! - Talkshow

This year, for the first time ever, UU has chosen a teacher as Alumnus of the Year. High time! The teacher shortage in science subjects is huge. This affects our faculty. Because where do we find future scientists if secondary schools struggle to offer maths, science and chemistry classes?   

How can the faculty contribute to reducing the teacher shortage? Can we be better ambassadors for our teacher training programmes and enthuse our students for a career in teaching? And how to deal with prejudices surrounding the profession? 
University associate professor Ralph Meulenbroeks discussed these issues with Dean Isabel Arends, alumnus and teacher-in-training Salma Ismaili, and our Beta Alumnus of the Year and math teacher Sabine Corazon Oudt.
