Spin-out Repolyze based on our catalytic ball milling technology founded

The startup will commercialize plastic recycling via catalytic ball milling. Instead of using the high temperatures usually employed for breaking the strong C-C bonds in polyolefins, the high mechanical energy occurring during collisions of grinding spheres in the ball mill, cause their scission and the formation of monomers. These building blocks can then be used to make virgin-grade polyolefins again. The catalytic functionalization of the grinding spheres, patented by Ina Vollmer’s team, leads to the necessary boost in conversion. The startup is led by CEO Casper Willems and Ina Vollmer acts as an advisor.
