Shortlisted candidates Teacher Awards 2024 announced
Utrecht University has awarded the Teacher Awards since 1994, to encourage academic lecturers to continuously improve their teaching and to show them appreciation. The Teacher Awards consist of the Teacher Talent Award, for lecturers who have recently started, and the Outstanding Teacher Award, for lecturers with upwards of five years teaching experience. Every year, study associations in Utrecht can nominate a lecturer for these prizes and this year, no fewer than 33 have been nominated.
The jury, comprising of Utrecht lecturers and students, has shortlisted three nominees for the Outstanding Teacher Award and three nominees for the Teacher Talent Award from the submitted lecturers. Criteria include the educational vision of the lecturer, the creation of student interaction and the students’ learning experience.

The winners (one in each category) will be chosen from this nominee shortlist. To decide, the jury will speak with the study associations that nominated the lecturer. The announcement of the winners will take place during the OnderwijsFestival on Thursday 7 March 2024 in the University Hall. Are you also curious to know who will receive this year’s awards?
Jury
The jury consists of Gery Nijenhuis (chair), Arjen Vredenberg, Serena Di Palma, Sebastiaan Steenman, Niels Bovenschen, Gerda Andringa, David Onnekink, Lotte Henrichs, Bouke van Gorp, Luciel van Vuuren, Ilja Timmermans (student member) and Robin Pleizier (student member). The jury is supported by Marijne Wijnker (Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning).
