It is clear that public engagement is flourishing at Utrecht University: no fewer than 17 applications were received for the latest call for proposals from the Public Engagement Seed Fund, all of which were of high quality and showed enormous diversity in form and audience. From school programmes to theatre performances, from discussions about migration with children to discussions about mould in homes with residents.

Unfortunately, we were only able to approve seven of them. With these grants, we are concluding the Public Engagement Seed Fund. From 2026 onwards, we will be discussing with the faculties and Strategic Themes how public engagement can be even better embedded.
