After two years the second UIPS symposium was held, again in the historic surroundings of Fort Voordorp. With 180 participants and 32 posters, the meeting was fully booked.

Keynote speakers were prof. Carlijn Bouten from TU/e on regenerative medicine; dr. Roland Pierik from UvA on the responsibility of the government to vaccinate; prof. Darrell Irvine from MIT on engineering immunity; and dr. Derek Lowe from Novartis on the problem with drug discovery. Two top scientific and two top philosophical keynote lectures. Several of our own PI's and PhD candidates presented as well.

During lunch a moderated poster session was held, which led to prizes for Kelly Dingess (personalized human milk peptidome), Donna Debets (proteomic analysis of breaast cancer derived extracellular vesicles) and Amer Jamalpoor (pathophysiology and potential therapeutic approach for cystinosis). The day was concluded with a change of leadership. Prof. Roos Masereeuw will succeed prof. Albert Heck as scientific director of UIPS. A slideshow of the symposium can be found at our news site.
