As of 1 March 2026, Prof. dr. Roos Masereeuw has been appointed interim Dean of the Faculty of Science by the Executive Board of Utrecht University.

Roos Masereeuw is currently Vice-Dean of Research and Professor of Experimental Pharmacology at the Faculty of Science. She will temporarily succeed Isabel Arends, who will step down from her role at Utrecht University on 1 March and take up the position of Director-General of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) on 1 April. Masereeuw will serve as interim Dean until a new Dean – yet to be appointed – takes office.

“We are pleased that Roos, whom we know as a highly experienced and capable administrator, is willing to take on this role on an interim basis,” says Hans Brug, Chair of the Executive Board. “She knows the faculty well and is widely appreciated for her connecting leadership style and her well-considered approach to decision-making.”

Faculty Director Klaas Druijf adds: “We have been working together very pleasantly within the faculty board for several years now. Roos brings people and disciplines together, both within and beyond the faculty. We see that this leads to greater coherence and collaboration across a wide range of themes and fields.”
