Research Assistant Position - Contesting Governance Group

The Contesting Governance UGlobe Flagship seeks to hire a research assistant (RA) who can commit to one day per week for a period of three months or two days per week for a shorter period. The position will start as soon as possible, hopefully by mid-November. The RA should be reliable, have excellent research and writing skills, an interest in interdisciplinarity, grant writing and a good eye for detail. The position is ideal for someone currently finishing their PhD trajectory.

The research assistant will be responsible for two main tasks:

  1. Literature analysis on the theme of ‘contesting governance’, with particular emphasis on themes such as security, violence, contestation, power, and activism.

  2. Grant acquisition: In close collaboration with a grants advisor, the assistant will identify available grants on these themes and assist with grant writing.

Both tasks are related to the ‘Contesting Security’ workshop that is scheduled for March 2023.

Requirements

  • You have a Masters degree in a subject relevant to one of the themes addressed by the Contesting Governance group;

  • You have the ability to review and analyse literature, from an interdisciplinary perspective;

  • An excellent command of spoken and written English;

  • A professional attitude and behavior that includes reliability, a pro-active mindset, integrity, precision, good communication skills and collegiality;

  • Enthusiasm!
