Reproduction of the Utrecht Psalter for sale

The Austrian publisher ADEVA has published a reproduction of the Utrecht Psalter in the series “Glanzlichter der Buchkunst”.

Utrecht Psalter

The Utrecht Psalter (a psalter is a songbook containing the psalms from the Old Testament) is the showpiece of the collection of Utrecht University Library. This unique manuscript was made in or near Reims around 830 and is famous for its revolutionary pen drawings. Each psalm has its own illustration, and as a result the manuscript reads like a comic book. In 2015 the Utrecht Psalter was added to UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.

Reproduction with explanatory notes

The reproduction is a reprint of the 1982 high-quality facsimile, but this time in  A5 format (15,5 x 20 cm). The edition also contains explanatory remarks in both English and German by Koert van der Horst, former curator of the Department of Special Collections of Utrecht University Library.

The book costs €98 and can be ordered on the website of ADEVA.

The University Library will include two copies of the book in the collection.
