Possibility of layman's talk for UU PhD candidates
Starting today, UU offers PhD candidates the opportunity to take advantage of a so-called "lekenpraatje" (layman's talk) prior to the defense of their dissertation. The first layman's talk already took place this afternoon at a PhD ceremony in the Academy Hall.
A layman's talk is a short presentation in which the PhD candidate explains in accessible language what the dissertation is about. Everyone in the audience can then better understand why the research is interesting and important.
The layman's talk is optional and will be held without the presence of committee members. The layman's talk will, just like the actual ceremony, also be available via livestream. Please see the calendar for PhD defences.
