Increasingly, researchers are asked to explain their research in a (very) short timeframe and to an audience of laymen. Quite a challenge to explain something you are unravelling for years in a couple of minutes! But mastering the skill of pitching is very useful, for instance for obtaining personal grants.
Utrecht University organises a contest for researchers: Breaking Science. During the heats the contestants will explain their research or a scientific concept in just 3 minutes. A jury will assess all pitches based on the criteria: Content, Clarity and Charisma. The winner of the Utrecht final will win 1500,- euro to attend a conference or summer school.
Come along and lend support to the competing researchers! By joining the crowd you can create a lively atmosphere for the contestants to deliver their talk. The heats will take place on 25 and 26 March, and 1 and 2 April 2019, from 20.00-22.00 hrs, in Café Hofman. The Utrecht final will be on 8 April 2019. Same place, same time.
