Pharmacology Division Achieves LEAF Bronze Accreditation
Following the LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework) Bronze-level accreditation of the Division of Pharmaceutics in December 2024, the Division of Pharmacology has become the second within the Faculty of Science to achieve the LEAF Bronze-level!
On Thursday, May 22, the LEAF audit committee visited the Pharmacology labs to evaluate them against the LEAF Bronze criteria. The committee was highly impressed by the team's dedication and the significant changes implemented in the labs. These changes include improved waste management, enhanced chemical management, and the practice of turning off energy-consuming devices. Through these efforts, the laboratories are set to reduce their energy usage and CO2 emissions, resulting in cost savings and a cleaner, more efficient lab environment.
Thanks to the hard work of the Pharmacology Green Team (Elise Heesbeen, Lousanne de Wit, Roos Verstegen, Ingrid van Ark, Mara Diks, Vera Rijks, Jim Koldenhof, Marie Bek, Joshua Elford en Suzan Thijssen) the research laboratories of the Division of Pharmacology have been awarded the LEAF Bronze-level accreditation. Congratulations to everyone involved!
Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF)
LEAF is a comprehensive framework designed to promote sustainability and efficiency in research and teaching laboratory spaces. It includes criteria across various accreditation levels, focusing on areas such as energy and equipment usage, waste management, resource circularity, research quality, personnel engagement, ventilation, and safety.
The Faculty of Science is committed to achieving LEAF Bronze Certification for all laboratories across all departments.
