Paul Adriaanse appointed Director of Continuing Education
The Executive Board has appointed Paul Adriaanse as Director of Continuing Education (ovp). Adriaanse will take up this role on January 1, 2026, in addition to his position as ovp director for the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (REBO) and the Faculty of Humanities. He will take over a large part of the duties of Wieger Bakker, dean of LifeLong Learning, who will retire at the end of January 2026.
Paul Adriaanse studied business administration in Groningen and then worked as a lecturer in the Mass Communication department at Utrecht University before joining Berenschot as an organisational consultant. After a few years, he returned to Utrecht University, this time as manager and senior advisor at USBO Advies. In that role, he was also active as a board member of the Utrecht University School of Governance at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance. In recent years, he has worked with scientists and staff to develop successful courses, including various leadership programmes, in which the Humanities and REBO faculties collaborate. Since 2022, Paul Adriaanse has been director of ovp for the two faculties in the city center.
Rector Magnificus Wilco Hazeleger: “We are delighted to appoint Paul Adriaanse, who has extensive experience in the field of education for professionals. Paul knows the university well and brings with him the entrepreneurial spirit needed to develop education for professionals across the university.”
Head of the Office OvP Tessa Evers: “I look forward to working more closely with Paul. I know him well from his current role and am curious to see how he intends to shape the university-wide tasks together with the Office OvP team.”
