Partial reopening of Utrecht University Library USP

The University Library in the Utrecht Science Park will reopen on the 25th of May, for a limited number of services. The library will be open from Monday to Friday between 13:00 and 16:00 for students and staff of Utrecht University (and UMC Utrecht).

Sadly we can’t welcome all visitor groups in the library yet at this stage. If you are not a student or staff at Utrecht University and you have materials on loan from the library, we will automatically renew the loan period on those items. You will receive a notification when it will be possible to return the items on loan.

Study spots not yet available

At this stage, services are still limited to those related to the physical collection of the library. This means that the desk will be open for lending and collecting library material and that the Special Collections Reading Room can be visited by appointment. Study spots and multifunctional printers are not yet available during this period.

Requesting library materials

Starting the 20th of May, staff and students of Utrecht University can request material again through WorldCat*. Please select the pickup location ‘University Library Utrecht Science Park’. You will receive a notification per e-mail with information on when the requested material will be available for pick-up.

Receiving material by post will remain available for Utrecht University staff and students who urgently need the work and can’t come tot the library. For pickup location please select the option ‘Send by mail’. It may take several days before the requested works will be posted.

*Requesting material looks slightly different, look at our information and tips on requesting material through WorldCat.

Consulting our Special Collections by appointment

Material from our Special Collections can only be consulted in the reading room on appointment. Request the title(s) of your choice in WorldCat and for pickup location please select ‘Special Collections’. We will contact you to make an appointment.

Measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus

Several measures are in effect to curb the spread of the coronavirus. For instance only 10 visitors are allowed in the library at the same time and returned materials are placed in quarantine before they will be available for loan again. For your and our safety follow the instructions in the building.
