Open Education at the Onderwijsfestival

Open Education Relay Day 4

Each day in the Open Education Week (March 2 - 6, 2026), the University Library showcases an Open Education initiative. Today: Community Open Science in Education (COSiE) and Open Education at the Onderwijsfestival.

The UU focuses strongly on Open Science and Open Education in its  new educational model. Transparency, collaboration, and reusing knowledge are fundamental key themes in this model . Open Science needs to find its way into the UU curricula on all levels of education. In the USO project ‘Transferrable Pedagogies for an Open Science Mindset and Skillset’ educators from all UU faculties work together to develop transferrable teaching materials. These materials are published in a growing collection on Edusources.

Today, at the Onderwijsfestival, COSiE organizes different activities. There’s a workshop: Open up your course: a spicy twist with the Open Education menu, by Jeroen Bosman, Hanne Oberman and Marc van Mil, in which participants learn how Open Science can be integrated into their own education. In Open Education: how to make materials reusable Steven Raaijmakers and Annelies Pieterman give guidelines how to transform your education into useful open educational resources, and you will contribute to research about the transferability of education. Or visit the Open Education Restaurant during lunch, in the Auditorium, to start a conversation with COSiE members on open education!

On the Onderwijsfestival, you see many other workshops that touch upon Open Education related themes, like How can you get the most out of your guest speaker?I teach, you teach – what can  I learn from youCo-teaching, and  The (Inter)Discplinary Question. For the entire programme, visit the website of the Onderwijsfestival. Do you still feel the need for  more Open Education after this? Join the Open Education Lunch Symposium on April 7th at University Library Utrecht Science Park.
