Nominate your student for the Migration and Societal Change Best Master Thesis Award

To recognize and promote excellence in student research as well as awareness in our field, the focus area Migration and Societal Change awards the best master’s thesis.

We would like to invite supervisors to nominate theses from their former master’s students. To enter this year’s competition, nominated candidates must have submitted their master’s thesis in the field of migration at Utrecht University during the 2023-2024 academic year. Nominated candidates or their supervisors must submit an electronic copy of their thesis as well as a summary of the thesis. The thesis can be submitted either by the student or the supervisor with the respective other clearly mentioned in the email and their contact information readily available. The candidates’ works will be evaluated based on various criteria: Content, Novelty, Clarity and Structure, Methodology, and Extra Points (e.g. extensive field work, creativity, etc.), by a jury composed of three members of the focus area. The deadline for submitting the application is 4 October 2024, at 12.00 a.m. 

The shortlisted candidates and the winner of the thesis award will be invited to present their theses during an event of the focus area and they will receive a monetary reward to celebrate their great academic achievement.
