New professors: Eugène van Erven and Helena Houvenaghel
As of 1 July 2015, the Faculty of Humanities appoints two new professors: Eugène van Erven will be Professor of Performance, Media & the City; Helena Houvenaghel will be Professor of Spanish Literature and Culture.
Eugène van Erven has been working at Utrecht University since 2006, as a Senior Lecturer in Theatre Studies at the Department of Media and Culture Studies. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Vanderbilt University (USA, 1985). He worked, among other places, at Victoria University (Wellington, New Zealand), the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (Aruba), and Utrecht University College. An expert in the field of community arts, he is artistic director of the International Community Arts Festival in Rotterdam.
Eugenia Helena Houvenaghel is a research professor in Spanish and Spanish American literature at Ghent University (Belgium). She graduated there in 2001 with a PhD dissertation about the Mexican essay. Prior to becoming a research professor in Ghent, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO-Vlaanderen) and as a University Lecturer of Spanish and Spanish American Literature at the Radboud University (Nijmegen, The Netherlands).
