New professor of Politics and Governance: Barbara Vis

The Executive Council of Utrecht University has decided to appoint prof. Barbara Vis as professor of Politics & Governance at the Utrecht University School of Governance (USG) from 1 september 2017. At this moment Barbara Vis is professor of Political decision-making at the VU in Amsterdam, and member of the Young Academy of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

Powerful investment for the longer term

Barbara Vis has been one of the younger, promising Dutch professors in public administration and political science for sometime already. After conversations with the faculty of Law, Economics and Governance, USG and representatives of Institutions for Open Societies (IOS), she has decided to continue her academic career in Utrecht. She has proved her strength in research, education, impact, managerial and executive activities, with both national and international orientations, and will strengthen these and develop new activities at Utrecht University.

At USG she will be primarily be linked to the public governance research and strengthen the political science activities and will also contribute to the behavorial policy and administration research. Furthermore, Barbara will be affiliated with Institutions for Open Societies and participate in new initiatives such as UGlobe and the new bachelor’s programme in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (to be developed).
