Migrants and Local communities Actively Growing together for inclusive societies - MILAGRO Project

The MILAGRO project “MIgrants and Local communities Actively GROwing together for inclusive societies”, financed by the European Union through the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (project number: 101147104) within the CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights  and Values) programme, has just started on June the 1st and will last two years.

The partners of MILAGRO are Nuova Associazione Culturale Ulisse in Siena (project coordinator), Utrecht University (The Netherlands) and the Univerzitetska Biblioteka Svetozar Markovic in Belgrade (Serbia); its associated partner is SIS Intercultural Study Abroad.

The project’s activities include: meetings aimed at developing digital and democratic competences, reflection activities, storytelling activities, moments where the local community and the migrant community will share their experiences, the organization of summer camps, dissemination actions, the training of intercultural mediators, and the creation of an international observatory on inclusive communities. Some activities are carried out locally, while others will be completed thanks to a joint effort among the partners, thus reinforcing international collaboration and broadening the development of intercultural dialogue.

MILAGRO’s overall goal is to create activities, tools and opportunities to build an intercultural dialogue between locals and migrants, and to develop those democratic competences that will entail positive and long-lasting relationships, based on mutual understanding, respect and solidarity.
