Margot van der Starre appointed vice-President Utrecht University

As of 15 March 2021, Margot van der Starre will be the new vice-President of Utrecht University. She is currently Chair of the Executive Board of Zorgpartners Midden-Holland. Van der Starre has been appointed for four years, with the possibility of reappointment. Margot will take the place of Annetje Ottow, who has been appointed President of the Executive Board of Leiden University as of 1 January.

"Margot has the required administrative and management experience and has proven that she can give direction to and gain support in complex organisations. She previously worked at UMC Utrecht, so she knows the Utrecht Science Park and the academic world."  

Van der Starre succeeds Professor Annetje Ottow who will become President of Leiden University. The Utrecht Executive Board also consists of President Professor Anton Pijpers and Rector Magnificus Professor Henk Kummeling.

Renowned university

Margot van der Starre is pleased with her new role. "It is a great honour to join the Executive Board of Utrecht University and I am looking forward to getting to know the university better. I see it as a challenge, especially in this difficult time, to be able to contribute to the further development of this renowned university."

Margot van der Starre (1961) studied  Literary Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Prior to her appointment as Chair of the board of Zorgpartners Midden-Holland, a care organisation with 3,200 employees and 2,000 volunteers, she was managing director of the Dutch Hospitals Association (NVZ) from 2010 to 2017. Previously, she worked at KPN, UMC Utrecht and an insurance organisation.
