Karin Laglas (1959) chairs the board for the Ymere housing association, which operates in and around Amsterdam. Before that, she served as dean for the faculty of Civil Engineering at the Delft University of Technology and worked at OVG Projectontwikkeling and Rodamco Europe, for example. Ms Laglas has a wealth of administrative experience and a broad social network, allowing her to serve as an important sparring partner for the Executive Board and the other members of the Supervisory Board. She is very familiar with the academic world through her professorship and her term as dean at the Civil Engineering faculty at the Delft University of Technology. Her extensive knowledge of project development in real estate is highly complementary to the expertise held by the other members of the Supervisory Board. As such, the Supervisory Board is very pleased, and the Confidential Committee of the University Council also wholeheartedly supports the appointment.

The Supervisory Board had a vacancy open up earlier this year after Prof. Emmo Meijer ended his membership after two terms. He was succeeded as chair by Joanne Kellermann. The other members of the Supervisory Board are Dr Jan van der Eijk (Vice Chair), Karin Bergstein, MBA and Prof. Frank van der Duijn Schouten.

The Supervisory Board supervises the implementation of the duties of the Executive Board in relation to the primary university objectives as laid out in the Higher Education and Research Act, and supports the Executive Board with advice. The Supervisory Board consists of five members who are appointed by the Minister for Education, Culture and Science.
