Boost your research with IT

Join your fellow researchers at this years' Data Science Day

How can we accelerate the application of data science techniques to help you extract valuable information from complex data? IT plays a crucial role in this. How can a researcher transform the plethora of data into relevant, meaningful information? These questions will be explored during Data Science Day on 20 April 2018. Learn from your peers of our UU community.

For this second edition of the Data Science day we offer an interesting programme especially designed for researchers of Utrecht University and University Medical Center Utrecht. We have four special keynote speakers that will offer an insight into their research and how they use innovations in data science. One of the keynote speakers is prof.dr. Floortje Scheepers of UMCU. She will speak about applied data analytics in her field of research, Psychiatry.

VR supermarket

The programme offers researchers the opportunity to discover the power of data science at work at our DemoLAB. Demonstrations combine data with clever design and smart visuals. Here you find a sample of what the researchers of the Utrecht University and their partners have to offer. Try shopping in the special virtual reality supermarket or see which tools are specially developed for data science at the Digital Humanities Lab.

Workshops

Also, researchers can dive deep with workshops, presentations and instructions during the two break out rounds. Learn more on how to use sensors in your research or how to do speed up your computations by using high performance computing. Mind you, the break out sessions have limited capacity. Some have already completely filled up, but you can still register for the others.

Visit the website www.uu.nl/datascienceday for the complete programme, registration and directions.

The Data Science Day is a collaboration between Information and Technology Services and the focus area Utrecht Applied Data Science.
