Join the Weather Challenge

Do you know what Heiligenschein is? Or a God's ray? For weather experts, these are familiar phenomena. And, with a little bit of luck, you can see them too. Especially in October, because October is the weather month per excellence.

In a number of English subtitled vlogs, weather reporter and climate scientist dr. Peter Kuipers Munneke (Utrecht University) explains how the weather phenomena of Dutch autumn are formed. During the Weather Challenge, we ask you to go outside, look up to the sky and photograph whatever weather goodies you can find! Will you take on the Weather Challenge?

The Weather Challenge is a tribute to the Utrecht professor Marcel Minnaert. Minnaert passed away this october exactly 50 years ago. He wrote Physics of the open field, an encyclopedia in three parts, in which he accessibliy explains everyday physical phenomena.

Go to weerchallenge.nl for the vlogs and share your own weather pic.
