Integrating WCD into education systems

How can school systems worldwide integrate the Whole Child Development (WCD) approach in measurement and teacher training? UGlobe is working with several Global Learning Community (GLC) members on two articles surrounding the importance of measurement and school leader and teacher training, which will be published in the NORRAG Special Issue 09.

The articles will emphasize the importance of the WCD approach, which focuses on physical, social, emotional, ethical, artistic, and cognitive education. In doing so, we want to shift the discussion around the constituents of foundational learning and advocate for including the holistic WCD approach. Both pieces are co-authored by at least eight GLC members interviewed on their organization’s work, either focusing on creating assessment tools that can depict holistic learning gains or the integration of WCD into school leader and teacher training systems. Both topics are highly relevant for scaling up the WCD approach as reliable teaching methodologies and solid measurement approaches of the associated skills and values increase the eligibility of this holistic approach to education. As our co-authors are at the forefront of this development, we hope to contribute to the literature and potentially use their insights for future projects.
