How do you prepare your academic journal for an open science future?

Second edition in discussion series "Publishing in transition"

How can an academic journal keep up in an era in which open access and open science are the norm? As a researcher with a position at an academic journal (e.g. as editor, editor-in-chief, editorial and/or advisory board), what can you actually do to promote open access and other open practices in the publication process and implement them in a sustainable way?

On 24 May, the Utrecht University Library's Publishing Support team is organising  the second meeting in the discussion series "Publishing in transition". In this edition, researchers will discuss the challenges of a transition to fully open access. Researchers and students at Utrecht University and the UMC Utrecht, who are in one way or another affiliated with an academic journal, are invited to join the conversation and ask questions. Mark the date in your calendar and register: Tuesday 24 May 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm (including drinks until 5:30 pm) in the Marinus Ruppert building in the Utrecht Science Park. The registration for this event has been closed.

The meeting kicks off with an interview with Johan Rooryck, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Glossa and director of cOAlition S. During the interview and afterwards there will be plenty of room for discussion with the audience. The second part of the afternoon consists of workshops in which experiences and good practices are shared. The meeting will be held in English
