During the Winterschool in the lecture-free week (28th-31st of January) teachers from Utrecht University, experienced entrepreneurs and inspirational mentors guided 15 students through the first steps of setting up an impactful business or organisation in just four days.
Gaining entrepreneurial knowledge: Winterschool 2019
Several potential ‘unicorns’ were born during the previous UU Centre for Entrepreneurship Winterschool on Entrepreneurship. Students from different faculties joined together at UtrechtInc. to study the entrepreneurial way to validate ideas.
Each day started off with coffee talks by entrepreneurs from the incubator. Then the morning continued with relevant theories and practices on the entrepreneurial mindset and methods, financing a startup using crowdfunding, marketing with impact and pitching for commitment. The ‘educator in residence’, Peter O. van der Meer, worked with several guest lecturers to help students build their business proposal and present their findings.
After four full days, the transportation idea “Green Link” was selected as the business idea with the most potential. The students were offered time and space at the UtrechtInc. Garage to work on their idea, free admission to the Social Entrepreneurship Festival and an advanced Entrepreneurship course during the Utrecht Summer School in July 2019.
All in all, it was an informative week full of new insights and inspiring guest speakers! Want to know more about entrepreneurial extracurricular activities? Click here.
