From 1 January 2026, cash payments will no longer be accepted at parking machines USP

From 1 January 2026, it will no longer be possible to pay cash at parking machines in Utrecht Science Park (USP). Visitors will still be able to pay using the available debit card and contactless payment options.

Cash too expensive 

The decision was made because usage figures show that the option to pay with cash is hardly ever used. In addition, the costs of emptying and processing cash no longer outweigh the limited number of transactions. The maintenance and secure handling of cash make this payment method considerably more expensive than digital alternatives.
