First UU researchers are working mobile using MyWorkplace

MyWorkplace, the digital work and study area of Utrecht University, has recently been extended to include a research environment for about 100 researchers of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. UU students have been able to use MyWorkplace since last year. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences collaborated with the Department of Information and Technology Services (ITS) to develop this first version for researchers. The researchers can now access research applications, data storage and backup facilities everywhere, always and on every device. Their mobile research station is always at their fingertips and meets the latest requirements in information security. The service is one of the first within the UU that has additional security in the form of a two-step authentication when logging in (with a login name and password and an extra code from a mobile app).

Associate Professor Rob Heerdink: "Our researchers often have several workplaces, work in a flexible way and share data with others. MyWorkplace simplifies this way of working. Above all, the tool makes strides in providing safe access to continually updated research data and software. The infrastructure built by ITS also helps us meet the international requirements for data management and for carrying out reliable research."
