Final RE-WIRING Conference
Realising Girls’ and Women’s Inclusion, Representation and Empowerment
The closing conference of the Horizon Europe RE-WIRING project will take place in Leuven, Belgium on 5 and 6 February 2026. The full programme is now available. The RE-WIRING project studies how institutions can be “re-wired” to create gender-equal environments where everyone can thrive. The project is chaired by prof. Linda Senden of Utrecht University, with Susan Andriessen as project manager and several Utrecht University researchers involved. T
The conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, civil society actors, and law- and policymakers to explore key findings and good practices developed throughout the RE-WIRING project.
The programme takes participants on a life-course journey, examining how gender stereotypes, biases and power hierarchies shape lives across different stages — from early education to working life, work–life balance and retirement. It also addresses cross-cutting challenges such as anti-gender movements, crises, leadership representation, and media and art.
With a strong focus on practical actions, tools and co-created solutions, the conference will explore how transformative gender equality can be effectively mainstreamed in law and policy, and how allyship — including the engagement of men and boys — can drive lasting institutional change.
