Every graduation year a new tree

The first annual alumni trees have been symbolically planted! Following an idea from students and in cooperation with the Green Office and the Alumni Office, the Utrecht Student Tree Fund was set up last year.

The Utrecht Student Tree Fund is a student initiative to contribute to biodiversity on behalf of Utrecht University. Students themselves choose tree planting projects around the world and raise money for them.

Graduation tree

From now on, UU plants an annual alumni tree as a memento for all graduates of that academic year. Next to each tree is a bench with an indication of the graduation year. Alumni thus conclude an important period in their lives and symbolically pass on the baton to the next generation. The first two trees were unveiled in April 2024, DUB wrote a nice article about them (in Dutch).

Tree as a gift

Are you graduating? Have something to celebrate? Ask for a donation for a tree gift! Everyone can contribute a bit (or a stick). For €19, for example, you symbolically donate one new tree in a tree planting project, or choose an amount yourself, of course.
