Eva-Maria Troelenberg appointed as professor Modern and Contemporary Art History

Prof. Eva-Maria Troelenberg joines Utrecht University on March 1, 2018 as professor in Modern and Contemporary Art History at the Department of History and Art History. 

Troelenberg has directed the Max-Planck-Research Group Objects in the Contact Zone – The Cross-Cultural Lives of Things at Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – MPI. She has taught Islamic art history and transcultural modern and contemporary art history in Munich, Vienna, Zürich, and Heidelberg. Her publications include the volume Images of the Art Museum. Connecting Gaze and Discourse in the History of Museology (2017) and the special issue of the Mitteilungen des Kunsthistorischen Institutes in Florenz Visualizing Otherness in Modern Italy (2017).

Her main fields of interest include the art history of transcultural and multiple modernities, particularly exchange processes between the eastern Mediterranean and Europe, object biographies, as well as transcultural museum and exhibition history.
