On Thursday 30 May, the Centre for Global Challenges organised an event on the current issues and future of European defence cooperation. We were happy to host Esther Tessemaker, senior policy officer at the Security Policy Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Tessemaker, who is an alumnus of Utrecht University, elaborated on her work at the Ministry and on different perspectives on and plans for the future of European defence. Afterwards, there was ample time for questions and remarks, which led to a lively discussion and overall an interesting morning on a strongly contested subject. Interested in the subject and want to catch up on the latest developments? Click here for the reflection paper on the future of European defence by the European Commission.
