DUB article: 'Students should get the opportunity to develop a global outlook'

Professor Joost de Laat director of Utrecht University Center for Global Challenges was interviewed about global engagement of students by DUB.

DUB is an independent news and opinion-site publishing relevant news and research from the academic community of Utrecht University. In this article, Joost de Laat explains that : "Global engagement beyond the borders of Western Europe and North America is essential for the excellence of research and education. Therefore, it's important that our students get in touch with different perspectives and circumstances from all over the world." Furthermore, he states that this calls for international cooperation with researchers in areas like Eastern Europe and Africa. "It also requires our students to get in touch with different perspectives and circumstances from other parts of the world." Furthermore, he explains how UGlobe tries to achieve this by their International Community Engaged Learning programme.
