In the middle Didi van Trijp

Didi van Trijp (Utrecht University, Master's programme History and Philosophy of Science) is the winner of the Elsevier/Johan de Witt thesis award for history. In her winning Master's thesis Spheres in Verse: Cosmological Practices in Early Seventeenth Century Amsterdam she studies notions on the structure of the universe among two Amsterdam chambers of rhetoric in the early 17th century. Her supervisors were Prof. Arjan van Dixhoorn and Prof. Wijnand Mijnhardt.

The award consists of a sum of € 1500, a number of books, and annual subscriptions to Elsevier magazine and 'Vrienden van De Witt'.

Among the nominees was also Tamar van der Kuil (Utrecht University, Cultuurgeschiedenis), with her Master's thesis Michiel de Ruyter: boegbeeld van de natie?
